“I wouldn’t call the music industry an industry. It’s just a way of life.”
For White Mountain Apache artist Laura Ortman, it’s been a way of life for more than 20 years.
From following in her grandmother’s footsteps as a violinist and composing songs to accompany her art installations to founding the all-Native American Coast Orchestra and playing venues like the iconic CBGB and the Centre Pompidue in Paris, France, she has always found a way to connect with others through music.
In the latest DD Spotlight, Laura talks about her inspirations and shares a live violin performance.
