JB the First Lady
In a genre dominated by male voices, Vancouver hip-hop artist JB the First Lady is flipping the script – one track at a time.
Inspired by “Indigenous matriarchs” like Kinnie Starr and Buffy Sainte-Marie, she uses music to not only share her story, but offer a different perspective, honour her community and raise awareness about issues like MMIWG.
In the latest DD Spotlight, we catch up with JB to talk about advocacy, her latest project and more.
