In Focus: FPCC Indigenous Music Retreat
Camp is awesome. Music camp is better.
From May 7-11, we had the honour of attending the First Peoples’ Cultural Council’s inaugural Indigenous Music Retreat just outside of beautiful Whistler, BC. With a handful of super knowledgeable industry mentors on hand, it was an opportunity for 20 of the country’s top emerging Indigenous artists to learn about the music biz, develop their business skills and sharpen their artistic abilities. Here’s a look back at the unforgettable week that was.
The First Peoples’ Cultural Council is a First Nations-run Crown corporation with a mandate to support the revitalization of Indigenous languages, arts, culture and heritage in British Columbia. They provide funding and resources to communities, monitor the status of First Nations languages and develop policy recommendations for First Nations leadership and government.
